Founded in 1836 by Georges Hoffher, a brewer from Alsace, the Georges Brewery will soon be two centuries old. It has been through two world wars, four republics, a kingdom and an empire!
The Georges Brewery is a factory and a bar where Georges beer is produced and distributed.
The location of the brewery, a plot of land reclaimed from the marshes at the confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers, was chosen because it corresponded to the stagecoach stop on the Paris-Lyon-Saint-Etienne-Marseille route. On 1 June 1857, Perrache station was opened to freight and passenger traffic, next to the Brasserie Georges.
